the world bank ,a pioneer financing institute and a part of UN was founded following the bretton wood agreement in year 1944.since than it is working continously and providing help to poor and developing nation in the world for economic development and basic infrastructure development.
just after 1 year of its existence ,it provide a major loan of about US$ 250 million for post was development in france ,which in real term continue to be the largest loan issued by a bank till date
world bank group is headquatered at washington D.C in united state of america .it has 186 member country and around 100 offices around the world.

world bank mission is to "remove poverty with passion and professionalism for lasting result and providing help to people to help themselves and their environment by providing resources and sharing knowledge in the public and private sector"

international bank for reconstruction and development(IBRD):-
this international bank provide various fund only after national's government guarantee.IBRD is lend to developing country by selling its AAA bonds in world financial market . IBRD earns some amount by lending this money and major parts of its income comes from lending out its own capital.

2)international financial corporation(IFC)
international financial corporation provide funds and finance without any nation's guarantee and mostly to private sectors.

3)international development association(IDA)
IDA is assumed as the biggest organization which provide interest free loans and finance to developing country.its reserves are replenished by its member country in every 3 year period .

president of world bank is ROBERT ZOELLICK who is an american however there is a convention which follow in terms of WB AND IMF that the director of WB will an american whereas the MD of IMF will be a europian.

WB is an institute which pretend to called as democratic institute but in really is far aways from reallity .however it is a part of UN but its functioning is not goverened by UN itself because there is a reason for it.in case of WB ,the country which contribute most in the reserve of WB will have more impact on its functioning as an example USA is the chief contributer of the reserve of WB and has the highest share in it and has highest voting rite than any orther country so his impact would be more.
